MHS Student Liaison Committee

The Student Liaison Committee meets with Board of Education members and Millburn High School administrators and the District Superintendents to discuss school policies, practices and improvements.  Topics may touch upon academic, social and cultural concerns.  Indeed, over the years, student feedback have helped shape our policies with No Test Dates, lunch offerings, elective offerings, library organization and even the selection process of this committee.

A working mission statement of the Liaison Committee is:  to keep Board of Education members abreast of student opinions and concerns while enhancing the MHS student experience by collaborating with the Board of Education and school administration to generate and implement initiatives that have a positive impact on the school environment.

Members generally meet monthly as a large group and even more times in subcommittees.  The Committee typically consists of 20-30 students and members who typically serve for 2 year terms so in any given year there are only a limited number of openings.

Selection is done holistically with students applying in early September each year.  In addition, counselors may give their input.  Final selection to the Liaison Committee is done by looking at applications without seeing applicant names.
